Activities & Transportation

Storm River Mouth

Where ancient rivers make their paths to the ocean along rocky ravines, where temperate high woodland and fynbos flow down to the sea in an unspoiled emerald carpet, and where the thunderous waves of the Indian Ocean mercilessly batter rocky coasts

The Garden Route National Park’s Tsitsikamma Section is located in “the place of abundant water.” A utopia of intertidal life, reefs, and deep-water fish is protected by the park’s core, which extends 5 km out to sea.

The gentle behemoth of the ocean, the southern right whale, makes a visit here and comes inshore to procreate as dolphins play and surf in the breakers.

Bramon Wine Estate

The first Estate to be located so far east of the Western Cape is the boutique wine estate Bramon Wine Estate 2000c (250 ton Cellar). It is the first estate to establish vines in the Plettenberg Bay region, approximately 20 kilometers from the town proper, and is located in a mountainous area called The Crags. With their award-winning, non-traditional and traditional Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wines and still wines, the formerly family-run estate pushed the limits of winemaking and won national and international accolades.

With the introduction of brand-new owners and a mountain of exciting plans for improvement, Bramon Wine Estate is certain to become, and keep becoming, better than ever and to be the preferred wine-tasting destination of choice. By bringing a plethora of new vineyards to the area, Bramon has paved the way for a new “Sparkling Wine Route.”

Monkey Land & Bird sanctuary

Tony Blignaut established Monkeyland in 1998. It is a free-roaming, multi-species primate sanctuary that is situated at The Crags close to Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape, South Africa. More than 12 hectares (30 acres) of native forest and 4 hectares of protected greenbelt make up the sanctuary (9.9 acres). The South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA) oversees four sanctuaries, including Monkeyland. The other three are located in Plettenberg Bay: Birds of Eden, Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary, and MonkeylandKZN, which is Monkeyland’s sister sanctuary and is located close to Ballito on the Dolphin Coast.

Montagu

Located in the Western Little Karoo and roughly 180 kilometers (110 miles) from Cape Town, Montagu is a town in the Western Cape region of South Africa. It was once known as Agter Cogman’s Kloof, Cogman’s Kloof linking the town and railway station, and was given the name John Montagu in honor of the former secretary of the Cape Colony. It is located where the Keisie and Kingna rivers meet.

Montagu, a town famous for its hot mineral springs and picturesque mountains, was established in 1851 on the estate “Uitvlugt.” It is also a hub for agriculture, producing crops in orchards, vineyards, and local herb gardens.

Stellenbosch

Located at the base of the Stellenbosch Mountain and about 50 kilometers (31 miles) east of Cape Town, Stellenbosch is a town in the Western Cape region of South Africa. Due to the numerous oak trees that its founder, Simon van der Stel, planted to adorn the streets and homesteads, the town came to be known as the City of Oaks or Eikestad in Afrikaans and Dutch.

The Cape Winelands, the larger of South Africa’s two primary wine-growing regions, is comprised of the Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Franschhoek valleys. Annual wine production in South Africa is over 1,000,000,000 liters. The main center for viticulture and viticulture research is in Stellenbosch.
